Mea Jima is the artistic persona of brothers Matt and Jim Meixner. They have been playing music together since their teenage years. Despite having releases with other projects they had never released a record with each other until 2021. When the time came, the brothers decided to form the electronic music duo called Mea Jima . Mea Jima is an electronic duo that likes to experiment with the possibilities of sound.
Ripe with synthesizers and electronic percussion, Mea Jima loves to layer different sounds and use devices to change the sonic quality of those layered sounds. They use these layered sounds as building block for their more experimental pieces. But, there also those pieces that use the standard song form. They strive to strike a balance between the ambient, experimental, and pop/rock realms. Mea Jima takes influences not only from the sounds they generate, but from artists they find interesting.
